Eligibility and Parking Designation
To be eligible for TAP, one must primarily use an alternative commuter mode to get
to campus
and qualify for a UCSB parking permit but agree NOT to hold an Faculty/Staff/Student
parking permit,
unless part of a carpool or vanpool.

Faculty/Academic Staff
Faculty, Post-docs, Visiting Researchers, Specialists, and Management
Service Professionals (MSPs) are considered Academic Staff. To join TAP,
Academic employees must be in the payroll system for the current quarter or provide
a Without Salary Visiting Researcher letter.
Staff
- Career employees
- Limited appointment employees, not UCSB enrolled
- UCSB Graduate Students employed at UCSB. You qualify for TAP if you are either:
- 45% employed in the payroll system for the current quarter
- On the Graduate Division Fellowship List of students earning at least $4,000 per quarter
Students
- UCSB Graduate Students - not employed at UCSB, employed at UCSB less than 45%, or
- UCSB undergraduate students
Who follow these criteria:
- Live 2 miles or more from the UCSB campus. View a list of streets that do not qualify for TAP benefits
- Are registered in courses for the current quarter
- Primarily use an alternative commuter mode to get to campus
