Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District MTD
General Information
There are several Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) bus lines serving UCSB commuters. These bus lines run
from north Goleta to Carpinteria,
and between the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara via the “Valley Express” line.
The primary drop off and pickup point at UCSB is the bus
loop (“North Hall” stop) located southwest of the Student Affairs and Administrative
Services building (SAASB).
Available Bus Passes
- Students
Currently enrolled UCSB students can ride the MTD buses for free by attaching their
registration sticker to their Student ID cards; log into GOLD (old version) to request
your sticker, each quarter.
- Faculty/Staff
Faculty and Staff who choose to take the bus, and do not own a parking permit, qualify
for a discounted unlimited 30-day bus pass from TAP. Please visit our bus pass page
for further information on how to obtain these passes.
- Other Community Members
If you do not qualify for a discounted bus pass from UCSB, you may purchase discounted bus passes directly from
the MTD transit center, from MTD by mail(http://www.sbmtd.gov),
or from Scolaris, located at 222 N. Milpas St. in Santa Barbara.
